2007 Resident Camp Selections
PROGRAMS
We are offering a new program for Resident Camp!! It is called “My Best Friend.”
A female adult and child (grades 1 – 3) program being offered July 5th – 7th.
The cost is $200.00 per couple with a $75.00 per additional child fee. This fee covers food, housing and program. The participants will be housed in Schenck Lodge and will enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, cookout and more.

SWING INTO CAMP - Grades 1,2,3
FEE: $400
Session 3: July 16-21
Step outside and hang out with your new camp friends. Swim, hike, cook over a campfire, learn how to use your senses in the out-of-doors, and sing lots of fun camp songs.

EXPLORE S'MORE - Grades 3-4
FEE: $400
Session: 4 July 23- 28
Come and explore Camp Glen Spey. You will enjoy swimming, boating, outdoor cooking, and discovering the unique environment at camp. Have a reunion with old camp friends and make some new memories this summer while you Explore Some More.

FIRELIGHTS AND FAIRYTALES - Grades 4,5,6
FEE: $400
Session 1: July 2-7
Session 2: July 9-14
Session 3: July 16-21
Each day is designed around a fairytale, myth or legend that focuses on outdoor living activities at camp. Activities could include archery, challenge course elements, water activities, etc. Enjoy learning how to build a campfire and other outdoor skills while exploring nature in Glen Spey’s 600 acres of woodland splendor. Join us for lots of fun and fairytales.

If I HAD A HAMMER - Grades 5,6 ,7
FEE: $400
Session 1: July 2-7
If you had a hammer, what could you do? The possibilities are endless. Learn how to safely handle tools and build something during your week at camp. Also participate in other camp activities such as swimming, boating, hiking, cookouts, and arts & crafts.

OUTDOOR WORLD - Grades 4,5,6
FEE: $400

Take advantage of the Glen Spey’s pristine campsite. Hike, swim, and use a funyak and row on the lake. Have a cookout, discover your artistic abilities with arts & crafts activities and experience the SATURN science program. Participate in sports and fitness activities.

WATER WONDERS - Grades 5,6
FEE: $400
Session 1: July 2 -7
Is the waterfront your favorite place at camp? Then this is the program for you. Learn and practice your swimming strokes, learn boating basics, and water safety. Spend time on the lake with the rowboats and funyaks. Organize a night time ceremony with wish boats.

Bon Appetite. Become a member of the culinary institute of Glen Spey. Learn cooking techniques both indoors and outdoors. Make appetizers that you can serve and lunches that will be the envy of the dining hall. Learn how to use a Dutch oven and pie-irons. It promises to be a delicious week of recipes and nibbling. Swimming, boating, and all camp activities are also part of this experience.

BOLD ADVENTURE - Grades 5,6,7
FEE: $400
Session 3: July 16-21
Have you been to resident camp a few summers? Is adventure your thing? Then this unit is for you! Activities will challenge your camping skills and prepare you for advanced Girl Scout camping opportunities. Continue the fun as you enjoy swimming, songs, hiking and the magic of Camp Glen Spey.

SADDLE UP - Grades 6,7,8
FEE: $600
Session 1: July 2-7
Session 2: July 9-14
Session 3: July 16-21
Session 4: July 23-28
Spend time at a local stable and take horseback riding lessons, learn horse grooming techniques, and the experience the work of stable management. While at the camp, you will participate in other camp activities such as swimming, boating, hiking, cookouts, and arts & crafts.

SURVIVOR CHALLENGER - Grades 7, 8
FEE: $400

Come have fun with Glen Spey’s version of the Survivor Challenge TV show. Enjoy camp through team competitions, water races, obstacle courses, and scavenger hunts to name a few fun things to do. Create your own flag, name, campsite, sleep outs, cook outs, and a great week of adventure.

NIGHT OWL EXPRESS - Grades 7,8,9
FEE: $400

Do you like to stay up late and sleep-in? Then bring your favorite pajamas. You will sleep in every morning, make your own breakfast, and have a great camp day lasting later into the night. This is a perfect time to explore any of the themes in the Studio 2B focus books. Participate in all camp activities.

POWWOWS, PADDLES & PIONEERS - Grades 8,9,10,11,12
FEE: $400
Session 2: July 9-14
Session 4: July 23-28
Follow the footsteps of early Americans through food, culture and crafts. Hear the legends told around a campfire, cook some pioneer meals, paddle the peaceful waters of Lake Metauque, shoot an arrow at a target, be a trail blazer and camp out by the teepee.

HOME ON THE RANGE - Grades 8,9,10,11,12
FEE: $600
Session 4: July 23-28
Yeehaw! This program includes trail rides in true western fashion at a working ranch. Learn about horse grooming and the science of horses. Enjoy a hayride to a rustic campsite, pitch a tent and cook a campfire supper and breakfast, and spend the night at the ranch. Pre-requisite: Saddle Up or 10 hours riding experience. Professional riding staff will evaluate your riding ability to determine if cantering is allowable.

LEADING THE WAY - Grades 8,9,10,11,12
FEE: $400
Session 2: July 9-14
This program is an introduction to leadership development. Learn what it takes to be a good leader and team player by participating in exciting team challenges. Climb a tower at the local Y camp. Learn the art of teaching outdoor skills, games, songs, rainy day activities, and run an all-camp activity.

GIRLS TAKE FLIGHT!
Imagine yourself about to take off in an airplane that you've designed! What makes an aircraft fly? How does something so heavy get off of the ground? How are airplanes designed and constructed? Why are wings shaped like that? When and how was the first airplane invented? Who is Bernoulli? What does math and science have to do with airplanes?
Learn the answers to these questions and more as you set out to design, construct and test your very own model airplane! A field trip is included in the week long program.

Summer Computer Classes 2007
Come and have a great learning experience at the Girl Scout Computer Center.
Students entering third grade and up are invited to participate in the two hour sessions in the GSCBC computer center.
Students will use a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Power Point, Excel, and Word as well as visit Internet websites while focusing on our 2007 Theme ~ PIONEERS of yesterday, today and tomorrow!
Wacky Wednesday will have teams working with widgets and bots and each Friday is multi-media presentation day for friends and family!

Non-Girl Scout Fee: $100 (Each new girl will be registered as a Girl Scout)

Be one of the first summer day campers at Jockey Hollow Camp, located in Mendham Township! A four million dollar camp improvement project will be completed to serve more girls this 2007 summer.
