TICK BUSTER - Our Council's own Patch Program

The Tickbuster Patch Program attempts to increase awareness and helps prevent Lyme Disease through education. Each girl should complete the activities in the TICK RAP and, with leaders or other adults and discuss the information found at the suggested links included in this web page. The TICK RAP activities focus on how to prevent getting bitten by a tick, rather then getting involved with how terrible Lyme Disease is. This is what we are trying to emphasize in this program!

ABOUT THE PATCH PROGRAM:
The requirements for the TICKBUSTER PATCH PROGRAM ARE:

  1. Read and do the activities on the TICK RAP page.
  2. Write a poem or rap about prevention and share it with other girls.
  3. Tell at least two people (not in your troop) about how to avoid getting Lyme Disease.

There is no set way to approach this program. In order to get this patch, all TICK RAP activities are to be completed by the girl. Sharing thoughts and ideas and working as small groups is encouraged. What we want the girl to walk away with are the right answers and facts to keep herself safe.
